Philosophy on Health

Your health is your responsibility.  You have been given one body and one chance at this life and you get to decide what you do with that.  Optimal health is truly found when you start to connect your mind and your body, use food as medicine, own your thoughts, change your behaviors, get to the root cause of your health issues, and decide to do whatever it takes to heal.

I believe there are 5 pillars of health that we need to focus on and nurture in order to find optimal health.  They are the foundation of all that we do, the state of our health, and the outcome of our lives.

Mindset

Everything you do starts with your thoughts.  Whether conscious thoughts or unconscious beliefs you are holding on to, they impact your feelings, which determine your actions, which dictate the outcome of the state of your life.

Here’s the best part. You can control your thoughts.  It is up to you to learn how to control your thoughts and harness the power of your mind to change your life.  Because, your mindset and your health are your responsibility.

Movement

Your body is meant to move, not sit still. Move your body with intention every single day. Find something you enjoy and do it. You might need to get a little uncomfortable, but that is where the growth happens.

Diet

What you put in your body matters, big time. Learning to fuel your body with the nutrients and energy that it needs to thrive is so important. Your body craves real, whole, nutrient dense foods, adequate fuel in the right balance, and the joy that comes from eating what makes you feel good.

Sleep

Sleep. You need it, please do it, I promise it will change your life. Sleep is often the first thing we sacrifice in our quest to do more, when in reality it should be a top priority. Your body and your brain need this time to work at their best.

Stress

Stress is the enemy of all things balance. It comes in so many forms - life, work, inflammation in the body, poor diet, not sleeping, negative thoughts- and we are all bombarded with stress every single day. However, stress is not the thing itself, but rather your reaction to the thing. There is so much in life that is out of your control. However, there are things that you can control like your mindset, movement, diet, sleep, and how you respond to stress.

It’s your job to make sure you are controlling the controllables in life so that you consciously work to mitigate and release your stress load each day.
